With over 500,000 assets and premises already operational on their public network and services delivered from 9 regional data centres the Etisalat IoT & AI network is arguably one of the most advanced in the world right now.

The Challenge

Etisalat approached Davra in 2018 to help them solve the many challenges of device management on their newly implemented IOT Connectivity service which they positioned as a key enabler for ongoing digital disruption in the region.

They wanted to design an automated onboarding solution that allowed each client to simply connect devices, configure individual dashboards and get active IOT projects up and running within minutes.

Once active each client needed to be able to manage the entire lifecycle of their devices, including OTA updates, security controls, rules & alerts and condition monitoring (opens new window) in an individually branded, multi-tenant environment.

Having evaluated a number of competing platforms and trialed internal development, Davra was exactly what we need to grow and scale our solution offering.

Why Etisalat Chose Davra

Having already standardized on a competitive solution that they had struggled to implement due to its technical complexity Etisalat were particularly keen to find a platform that offered all the required functionality (in an on-premise environment) that clients could use with minimal initial training and hand holding.

In order to scale their solution, they needed a client with no software development skills to be able to onboard a device and have it fully operational in less than 5 minutes. Davra’s open architecture platform delivers secure, scalable, reliable and flexible functionality which not only delivers the device management requirements but also integrates easily into the business and operational workflows of Etisalat.

This allows real time and historical data to be secured, shared, correlated, analysed and presented across multiple tiers of the organisation. Beyond this, using our powerful application builder platform data can be transformed into meaningful insights which lead to better decision making across all levels of the company and opens the possibility of significant value add services for clients.

Results

The rollout has been a massive success for Etisalat, and they are now actively expanding the scope of the engagement by utilising the Davra platform to deliver applications on top of the onboarded devices to monitor a wide range of assets including city infrastructure, manhole cover monitoring, water treatment devices, smart healthcare products and parking and traffic solutions.
